2013: What is in store for me this year?

Happy New Year!

I figure that I should do a little write up of what I’ve been up to since my last update… which was… in August…

Let’s see, I finished up my second year contract for SMOE (teaching in Seoul) in late August. I visited family for two weeks and made another two week pit stop in California (LA/SF) before I finally landed back in good ol’ GA in September. Things really slowed down once I got home. Although it was nice seeing everyone again, it was definitely different because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay in GA for good or to think of my time as another pit stop. I’ve been worrying a lot and eventually decided to make it in Atlanta. Job searching and scoring an internship (non-paid, but worthwhile) kept me busy for a bit.

I think I was pretty lucky to come home during the holidays. It made time go by in a way where I didn’t always feel like I should be working harder to find a job. However, holidays do end and my worrying has begun again.

I was hoping by now that I would have more than an inkling of what I wanted to do after Korea. Unfortunately things don’t always work out that way and while I do have a few leads, I’m hoping an opportunity will arise soon.

For now, I trying to see the bigger picture and wishing the best. Staying positive is definitely something I want to focus on this year.

… and I’m going to stop promising to update more, but I will promise to come back. Haha.

yes.

One benefit of constantly being indecisive when it comes to choosing what I want to do to earn a living. This guy I went on a date with (just one date because he was weird) told me something that I’ll remember forever — You’re indecisiveness just means that you like to learn different things until you find one you really like.

Well, thanks weird first date guy!

This is what passion looks like!

I love keeping up with the internet (well, I try to) because it’s just one big massive movement. It’s really interesting how people move as a flock, determining what is popular or not, when they don’t even know each other. I think it really strings people together to laugh, get angry, or even cry at the same things on the internet.

This video has been making rounds among the people of my facebook social circle and wow, it’s simply amazing. This one video has inspired so many people, but the best part about it is that it’s from a 9 year old’s dedication to improve and share his love for arcade games.

No equipment? Use cardboard. No customers? Wait. No automatic ticket dispenser? Get down on your knees and push it out yourself.

I am amazed and I am inspired…. by a 9 year old. It’s also so magical how it only takes one person to recognize your talent and your work to open doors for you. Keep at it and great things will come, but the best part of it all was that you really didn’t care. Just working at it everyday made you happy.

Kid, you’re awesome.

and the list continues…

I’ve been to a total of 10 countries so far. Not too shabby for a girl who just turned 26, eh? What’s more interesting is that I added 6 new countries to my list just from living abroad for the past two years. I definitely have no regrets choosing a life where I can roam freely while collecting paychecks.

Unfortunately the time is near where my future is a bit uncertain. Like I wrote before, I’m going to turn my worries into excitement for the unknown, but I will be adding one more country before I leave. Haha.

Taiwan in less than a month!

little dose of georgia

Getting smartphones was probably one of the weirdest and cutest things that my parents have done. They like to text me random English phrases or send me photos. I wanted to share the two most recent ones.

Cherry blossoms finally in bloom! My dad used to be in the fruit/flower tree business when I was in middle school. He planted these next to their business parking lot a few years ago and wow, don’t they look amazing?!

My puppy makes me smile. Pretty sure she was about to bite the phone when my mom took this picture.

It’s an odd feeling to be on the other side of the world and getting pictures from them. O.O
